You are invited to tryout for the Alameda Soccer Club Select
(Class III) teams for the 2008 fall season.
*The formation of a second team is likely if enough talented players
come to tryouts. We have willing and qualified coaches ready to
coach these teams and will form teams for other age groups as
well if enough players tryout. They may play in Division III (competitive)
or a High Division IV (recreational) flight at the discretion
of the board and Match Coordinator.
There are many benefits of playing in the Select teams for the
more advanced players:
- The teams are coached by experienced and enthusiastic Alameda
coaches, supplemented by professional coaching
- The players enjoy soccer more when they play with and against
players of similar abilities
- The players get to play with other kids who are equally enthusiastic
about soccer
- The players achieve accelerated soccer skills development
- The players get to experience fun and gratifying tournament
plays
- The players develop sense of pride and achievement for playing
in the Select program
The Club's view is that players should be provided with the opportunity
to pursue things that they are good at and enjoy doing. Players
who love to play soccer and are good at it should be able to play
at a higher level. When talented players play with and against
other talented players and get better coaching, they will improve.
They will also learn the value of hard work, the rewards of succeeding
together as a team, and the self-confidence that comes with doing
something well as an individual. This is the experience we hope
to give each child who plays on an Alameda Select team.
The U10 teams carry a roster of 12 players and 16 players are
carried on the rosters of U12 and above. All positions are open
to all players. There are no players "reserved" from
previous seasons. Any player may out-perform a previous player
for any age group, in fact, many coaches are looking for new players
to join the team. With several coaches interested in forming second
teams, or age-pure teams, there is a great potential for any player
to play at a competitive level this season, particularly at the
U12 and U14 boys and girls levels.
All players interested in better soccer and more fun, please come
to the tryouts.
