How To Become a Referee

Alameda SC is hosting a USSF/CNRA Grassroots (New) Referee Course open to all first-time referee candidates. Please sign up directly through the USSF Learning Center and complete the online portion before attending the final In-Person Field Session.

USSF Grassroots (New) Referees Course – Spring 2026

When

  • On-Line: Complete the online course before the field session date.
  • Field Session: Saturday, March 14th, 2026, 1:00–4:00 PM.

Where

Minimum Age

  • 13 years old

What to Bring to the Field Session

  • Athletic attire, ready to be active
  • Water
  • Whistle
  • AR flags if possible
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in

You Get

  • Pass the course and you become a USSF Referee — you can work games and get paid.
  • You will receive your badge in the mail. Please retain your completion certificate and bring it to your first games.
  • New referee starter kits are available online: officialsports.com
  • On-going training, education, and support via the Referee Mentor & Development Programs.
