End of Season note from Adam Butler, DOC

As our seasons finished this past weekend until 2022 I get asked, what should our soccer player be doing in the off season? First, players should rest. Soccer is a contact sport that is tough on the knees and ankles, taking a week or two off to rest will help any lingering issues. Rest and recover. Physical and mental burn out are real issues for players of any age. Allow the players some time to refresh their bodies and minds to come back ready to learn and compete.

ASC Day at the Earthquakes

The San Jose Earthquakes have reserved a block of seats at their October 23rd match against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors and cheer on the local pros! The game is at PayPal Park about an hour’s drive down in San Jose. The game is on Saturday at 6:45 pm so plan ahead for Saturday evening traffic on the drive down to San Jose. Purchase tickets in ASC’s block of seats in Section 133 at PayPal Park.

Spring Registration Opens Monday Feb 8, 2021

Spring registration opens on Monday Feb 8, 2021. We are so excited to have players back on the field! It’s been a long year. Hoping everyone is safe and healthy, and the kids are ready to play soccer. Currently, our plan is to have players practice twice weekly with their team, while we wait to get the green light to go back to playing games. The practice schedules will be set once registration is closed and teams are formed.

Training update

We are very excited to be back on the field. We hope your children are enjoying being back on the field with their coaches and fellow Islanders. As of now, NorCal has tentatively scheduled games to start in 2020. However, we don’t know at this point if or when games will actually be allowed by the State and County. For now, we are going forward with planning for socially distanced team training sessions for the fall.

Spring Update – COVID-19

Alameda Islander Families, We want to keep everyone updated on how the club is dealing with the COVID-19 health pandemic. To do this we will send out an update every Monday with any new information. We will also send out updates if anything significant arises during the week. As of now we are waiting for further guidance from our soccer governing organizations on how to proceed with the spring season. Currently, all in person activities have been cancelled untill April 12th in compliance with US Club Soccer and California Governor Gavin Newsom’s directives to help protect public health and safety.

U16 Boys Win san ramon soccer fall shootout

The Alameda Soccer Club Falcons U-16 Boys took 1st place in the San Ramon Fall Shootout this weekend. Despite facing talented competition early on, the Falcons finished first place in their group and qualified for the semi-finals. After winning the semi-final by a score of 2-1 they advanced to the championship to face an impressive Ballistic United team. After 60 mins of play, 2 overtime periods and several close chances the score remained tied at 0-0.

Islanders visit the UK

Most Islander families have done the travel circuit. Manteca, Lathrop, Davis, Sacramento. Maybe Napa or Santa Cruz. This summer, the 2008 boys took travel to another level. The destination? The United Kingdom! It was a soccer packed 10 days. Within 24 hours of landing in London, most of the boys and their families headed to Wembley Stadium for the Community Shield, the final preseason game before the start of the Premier League, which Manchester City won over Liverpool in a penalty shootout thriller.
